1st Annual Richmond Maritime Festival

August 20-22, 2004

The 1st annual Richmond Maritime Festival was held August 20 to 22, 2004 at the Britannia Heritage Shipyard in Steveston (Richmond) BC. Highlights of the festival were the 188' Barkentine Concordia there Friday and departing Saturday morning, CH-CCH (the Liv Viking) the Coast Guard Hovercraft there Sunday afternoon, all the other sailboats, powerboats and fishing boats, some made of mahogany and many 50 years old, the 2 day music festival ashore, the Captains' Barbeque Friday evening, the Sea Dragon flag raising Sunday, the RCMP Dive Team and Coast Guard Auxiliary displays.

Also there were boats undergoing restoration, model ships, maritime storytelling, displays on knot tying, rope making, the kids' area with toy boat building and painting, the food booths, and last but not least the wonderful Britannia Heritage Shipyard—home to some of the oldest buildings on the Fraser River, and a working maritime museum.
